Facebook ~ Additional Information

1. Don't be a BONEHEAD!

You are running a ROTARY club.  Rotary is a non profit, non denominational and non political entity.  This means it is hugely foolish to either weigh in on politics or religion.  You risk isolating your current and your potential audience.

Unfortunately, this is also true for your personal account.  Yes, you have freedom of speech.  HOWEVER, your members will also follow YOUR PERSONAL ACCOUNT.  Keep it clean, keep your nose out of the fray. You will only piss someone off and that is a no win game.   Remember when your mom said, if you can't say something nice about a person, say nothing at all.  Well, she was right.   Make your momma proud.

2. Connect with other businesses and nonprofits Facebook pages

Communicating with the community around you or businesses that support your cause can help increase your page’s following.  Getting mentioned on multiple Facebook business pages gets your name out and can increase fans as well as donations.

3. Use the ‘Donate Now’ button

The Donate Now button, when integrated into a Facebook page, will appear beside the ‘Posts’ in the News Feed and also at the top of the Facebook page. When a user clicks this button, they can enter the desired payment and the donation is processed immediately.  This button also enables people to share your post with their friends. This should be of great benefit considering that 68 percent of people go online and learn more about causes and charities that their friends support when they discover them on Facebook. Nonprofits interested in using the feature just need to fill out the Donate interest form in the Facebook Help Center to get started. The Donate Now button appears as a pop-up; an ideal way to boost conversions.

The good thing is that Facebook doesn’t charge a fee to process donations and instead pays the fee itself. As a result, 100 percent of the donations goes to your organization.
